Aug 20, 2012 Cold rolled steel from the hardware store is A36 structural steel, no good for blades. You will not find blade steel at hardware stores unless they sell drill rod, in which case they will call it water hard, oil hard, or air hard. Water hard drill rod is W1, oil hard is O1, and air hard is usually A2. Brandon Buford Members 0 519 posts Gender:Male
MoreThe cold rolling mill is a new type of cold-rolled steel processing equipment. The machine can process hot-rolled wire rods and hot-rolled coils with a diameter between 6.5 mm and 12 mm into cold-rolled ribbed steel bars with a diameter of 5 mm to 12 mm.
MoreThese steel cutting blades mainly are used for the hot or cold rolled thick sheet of cross-cutting and slitting. The main applications are Large steel plant, non-ferrous metal processing plant , cold-rolled steel plate plant , Strip manufacturers, strapping materials factory, packaging materials plant, steel screen factory, Steel pipe ...
MoreOct 29, 2021 Cold rolled steel is steel produced by cold rolling. Cold rolling is a steel sheet that is further thinned to the target thickness of the No. 1 steel sheet under room temperature conditions. Compared with hot-rolled steel sheets, cold-rolled steel sheets are more accurate in thickness, and have a smooth and beautiful surface.
MoreCold rolling technology refers to a process whereby steel or stainless steel metals are rolled at room temperature rather than being heated to 1100 degrees Celsius. Rolling steel at room temperature by passing it through rollers enables shaping. Furthermore, this thermal treatment can be used to produce flat sheets of metal, coiled products or ...

From the introduction of the checkered Kraton® handles, and the “Americanized” Tanto blade, to the inclusion of innovative new blade steels like San Mai III® and game-changing locking mechanisms.
MoreA tough blade steel resists chips and total failure when subjected to beating, impact, twisting, and torsion. ... Extremely tough blades may not cut as well as desired and can suffer from edge rolling and difficulty maintaining an edge. ... Spyderco and Cold Steel frequently utilize this steel and the chart below shows why. LC200N.
MoreMar 07, 2017 If cutting blades from a 12X36" sheet, I would guess the short direction as the roll direction grain (sheared off a longer roll). With the thinness of blade steel and the nature of our HT, the difference in the blade from the rolling direction is minimal to anyone but a metallurgist or a lab.

MoreSep 17, 2011 Cold rolling steel is just a process it goes through under pressurized rolls and an unheated slab for thickness. 1018 is most common. If the carbon level of the steel is at 1. or higher it will make a good knife. Look for 1070, 1084 or 1095. You can get these in cold rolled or hot rolled. with acceptable levels of carbon it is usually heat ...
MoreSep 11, 2014 Cold rolled steel is essentially hot rolled steel that has had further processing. The steel is processed further in cold reduction mills, where the material is cooled (at room temperature) followed by annealing and/or tempers rolling. This process will produce steel with closer dimensional tolerances and a wider range of surface finishes.

MoreMar 11, 2019 Cold forging is a lot like hot forging except it is at or near room temperature. The lower temperature means that the steel is much stronger and it is much more difficult to forge. That also means the steel is more brittle and therefore more likely to crack during forging or rolling. The shape of the grains in the steel are changed through forging.
